With the Waveshare UART TO ETH (B), you connect a device with a TTL UART connection to an Ethernet network. The module converts serial data to network data and works in both directions. This allows you to send and receive data from a microcontroller or other UART device over a local network. The RJ45 connection supports 10 and 100 Mbit/s. For the network connection, you can choose from TCP Server, TCP Client, UDP, and UDP Multicast.
The UART speed is adjustable from 300 to 115,200 bps. You can power the module with 3.3 or 5 V DC. Due to its dimensions of 34 × 23 × 11.5 mm, the board also fits into compact projects. The PCB features solder pads and cutouts for mounting on another PCB. You can also use the included pin headers. Soldering may be required for this.
The module is suitable for projects where you want to make a serial connection accessible via Ethernet. For example, you can use it as a serial server, Modbus gateway, or MQTT gateway. Please note that this is a TTL UART module. You will need an additional converter for RS232, RS485, or RS422.
