This 8-channel RS485 to RJ45 Ethernet serial server is an industrial module designed to make RS485 devices accessible via Ethernet. You get 8 independent RS485 channels that can operate simultaneously, each with its own baud rate. This is useful if you have multiple meters, sensors, or controllers in a single cabinet and want to read or control them all over the network.
The module functions as a serial server with transparent data transfer. You can also use it as a Modbus gateway (Modbus RTU to Modbus TCP) and as an MQTT gateway. Additionally, it can convert RS485 data to JSON for data acquisition and IoT applications. This allows you to deploy the same hardware for simple “serial over IP” connections as well as for cleaner integration with software or the cloud.
Designed for networking and installation, it is made for practical use. It features 2 Ethernet ports for daisy-chaining (cascade) or network switching. A version with PoE (IEEE 802.3af) is available, allowing you to use only a network cable for data and power in some situations. Power can also be supplied via a screw terminal with DC 7V to 36V.
