With the Waveshare RS485 TO POE ETH (B), you connect an RS485 device to an Ethernet network. The gateway converts serial data to network data and vice versa. This allows you to remotely read meters, sensors, PLCs, and other devices.
The gateway supports TCP, UDP, Modbus, MQTT, and JSON. You can use it as a serial server, Modbus gateway, or IoT gateway. You adjust the settings via software or a web browser. The use of a virtual COM port is also possible.
Power can be supplied via PoE or an external DC power source. This means a separate power cable is not always required. The power supply and RS485 connector are electrically isolated. This helps prevent interference and damage caused by voltage fluctuations.
The aluminum housing is suitable for mounting on a wall or a DIN rail. This makes the gateway suitable for control cabinets and industrial installations.
