The Bambu Lab R1 is a CO₂ laser cutter and engraving machine for makers, designers, and small workshops. With 55 W laser power, you can cut and engrave materials including wood, acrylic, paper, and leather. You can also process transparent acrylic with this CO₂ laser. The standard working area measures 600 × 300 mm.
Create nameplates, wooden parts, decorations, or personalized gifts, for example. You can also engrave glass, stone, and coated metals. The suitable material and selected settings determine the result. The maximum movement speed is 1,000 mm/s; the usable speed varies depending on the operation.
The R1 automatically aligns the laser path. The TriSense system combines cameras, distance measurement, and motion control for placement and focusing. This helps the machine help you align designs on the material. You prepare jobs in Bambu Suite on Windows or macOS.
The standard version includes a Short Focal lens. For longer workpieces, you can add an Automatic Conveyor Feeder and Riser Base later. For a machining length of up to 3,000 mm, three sets of Guide Rail Extensions are also required. These extensions are purchased separately.
Under normal, fully enclosed use, the R1 falls under laser class 1. With a Riser Base or Conveyor, the setup changes to laser class 4. In this case, suitable CO₂ laser safety glasses and professional use by trained personnel are required. Also ensure adequate fume extraction and follow the safety instructions.
