Raspberry Pi Pico H & Pico W

There are two new Raspberry Pi 's, the Pico H & Pico W ! In this article you can read more about these new microcontroller boards.

Headers & WiFi

Raspberry Pi has launched two new products. The Raspberry Pi Pico H and the Raspberry Pi Pico W. The Pico H comes with pre-soldered pin headers. This allows you to easily place the Pico on a breadboard. For easy debugging there is a 3-pin JST 'SH' connector on the top.
The Pico W comes with WiFi 4 support. It works with Infineon CYW43439 chips for Single-band 2.4 GHz wireless interfaces (802.11n).

Pico H specifications

The Raspberry Pi Pico has the same specifications as the original Pico.

  • RP2040 Microcontroller chip designed by Raspberry Pi
  • Dual-core arm cortex m0+ processor, flexible clock works up to 133MHz
  • 264KB SRAM and 2MB on-board flash memory
  • USB 1.1 with device and host support
  • Low-power sleep mode
  • Drag and drop programming via USB
  • 26 × Multi-function GPIO pins
  • 2 × SPI
  • 2 × I2C
  • 2 × UART
  • 3 × 12-bit ADC
  • 16 × Adjustable PWM channels
  • On-chip clock and timer
  • Temperature sensor
  • On-chip accelerated floating-point libraries
  • 8 × Programmable I/O (PIO) state machines

The standard Pico does not have pin headers and a debug connector. The Pico H does have these.

The Pico Prize

The Pico boards remain accessible to everyone. The Pico H (headers) costs only €6.50 including VAT. The Pico W (WiFi) costs only €7.50 including VAT. So now you can start making your own IoT projects for less than €10!
