Program it with high-performance languages and AI. All while performing low-latency operations on its adaptable hardware. Portenta H7 runs high-level code alongside real-time tasks simultaneously. Its design incorporates two processors that can execute tasks in parallel. It is for example possible to run Arduino compiled code together with MicroPython one. Then you can let both cores talk to each other. The Portenta functionality is twofold and can be implemented like any other embedded microcontroller board. Or as the main processor of an embedded computer. Use the Portenta Carrier board to turn your H7 into an eNUC computer. This exposes all of the H7 physical interfaces. The Portenta can easily execute processes created with TensorFlow™ Lite. You can use any of the coreson-the- flycan calculate a computer vision algorithm. While the other can perform low-level operations. Like controlling a motor or acting as a user interface. Use Portenta when performance is a must. Examples of applications for the Portenta include:
High-quality industrial machines
Lab equipment
Computer vision
PLCs
Industry-ready user interfaces
Robotics controller
Mission critical devices
Dedicated stationary computer
Fast startup calculation (ms)
Two parallel cores
The H7's main processor is the dual-core STM32H747, including a Cortex® M7 running at 480 MHz and a Cortex® M4 running at 240 MHz.The two cores communicate via a Remote Procedure Call mechanism that allows seamless calling of functions on the other processor. Both processors share all on-chip peripherals. The processors work with:
Arduino sketches on top of the Arm® Mbed™ OS
Native Mbed™ applications
MicroPython / JavaScript via an interpreter
TensorFlow™ Lite
Graphics Accelerator
Probably one of the most interesting features of the Portenta H7 is the ability toconnect an external monitor. This allows you to build your own dedicated embedded computer with a user interface. This is possible thanks to the on-chip GPU of the STM32H747 processor, the Chrom-ART Accelerator™. In addition to the GPU, the chip contains a dedicated JPEG encoder and decoder.
A new standard for pinouts
The Portenta family adds two high-density 80-pin connectors to the bottom of the board. This provides scalability for a wide range of applications.Simply upgrade your Portenta board to the one that meets your needs.
On-board connectivity
The Portenta comes with a built-in wireless connection module. This module allows to manage WiFi and Bluetooth® connectivity simultaneously. The WiFi interface can be used as an Access Point, as a station or as a dual-mode simultaneous AP/STA. The module can handle a transfer rate of up to 65 Mbps. Bluetooth® interface supports Bluetooth Classic and BLE.It is also possible to expose a range of different wired interfaces such as UART, SPI, Ethernet or I2C.both via some of the MKR-styled connectors, such as via the new Arduino industrial 80-pin connector pair.
Multiple options in one board
The standard Arduino Portenta H7 (codenamed H7-15EUNWAD) comes with:
STM32H747 dual-core processor with graphics engine
8MB SDRAM
16MB NOR Flash
10/100 Ethernet Phy
USB HS
NXP SE050C2 Crypto
WiFi/BT Module
External Antenna
DisplayPort over USB-C
