Control the flow of fluid with the power of electronics! This fluid valve is a great addition to your robotic gardening project. The valve has two 1/2" (nominal untapped National Pipe) outlets. Normally the valve is closed. When 12VDC is applied to the two terminals the valve opens and water can flow through. The valve has a packing system inside so there is a minimum pressure requirement of 0.02 MPa (3 PSI). In addition, fluid can only flow in one direction.
This solenoid valve has been tested at various DC voltages. It works at 6VDC (although a bit slower). Here is the current table for various voltages. We recommend using a TIP120 or N-Channel power FET with a 1N4001 flyback switch to drive this from a microcontroller pin. For power, our 9V 1A or 12V 1A power supplies are suitable.
Please note, these solenoids are not suitable for food safety or use with liquids other than water.
